Sterilizer Manufacturer:
Market Forge
Model of Sterilizer:
Market Forge STM-E
Problem Title:
Market Forge not reaching 15.5 psi
Problem Description:
The sterilizer just reaching 13 psi. When it's operatimg, I hear a noise, like a switch is making some noise, like a valve that is opening and closing. This noise comes every 5 minutes or something.
Reasons
1. In most case, the problem is from the steam trap, which open too much. This will cause the sterilizer hard to build and hold high pressure.

However, in this specific case, the problem might be caused by pressure switch, which is out of calibration. If the pressure swtich is in good working condition, the problem may come from the contactors, which is controlled by the pressure switch. Through the contactor, the pressure switch can control the AC power supply to the heating elements. From the customer email, it sounds the pressure switch is still working (but not sure it is out of calibration or not), because the customer can hear a noise periodly, this noise comes from the contactors ON/OFF.

Usually the 2 contactors work in this way.

When the pressure goes to 13.0-13.5 PSI, the contactor for the outer banks of heating elements will OFF, then it will keep OFF until the end of the cycle.

When the pressure goes to 15.5 PSI, then the contactor for the inside banks of heating elements will OFF. After the pressure goes down to 15.0 PSI, then this contactor will ON again, so you can hear a noise ON/OFF periodly. For your case, mostly this contactor is out of work, or the control signal for this contactor from the Pressure Switch is out of calibration.

Solutions

1. Please see above for detailed reasons

In most case, the similar problem is from the steam trap, which opens too much. This will cause the sterilizer hard to build and hold high pressure.

However, for this customer case, the problem might be caused by pressure switch or its contactor, either the switch is out of calibration, or the contactor is out of work.

Through the contactor, the pressure switch (2 switches to control 2 different pressure values) can control the AC power supply to the heating elements. From the customer email, it sounds the pressure switch is still working (but not sure it is out of calibration or not), because the customer can hear a noise periodly, this noise comes from the contactors ON/OFF.

The 2 contactors work in the following way.
