Sterilizer Manufacturer:
Pelton & Crane
Model of Sterilizer:
Magnaclave
Problem Title:
Pelton Crane Magnaclave calibrate pressure gauge
Problem Description:
What is the suggested way to verify the units pressure gauge is accuate?

Solutions

1. There is a very simple way (not very accurative). It is easy.

Just run any cycle (try to set the temperature to highest as 273F). When the sterilizer builds the temperature, check its pressure reading, to make sure pressure reading matches the temperature reading according to the steam characteristic curve.

Unfortunately the Magnaclave sterilizer has a big tolerance range for the pressure reading. This way can only give you a rough idea whether this machine is still in good calibration or not.

To do an accurative test, you need to put a high temperature record inside the chamber and run one cycle, this time it will give you a good highest temperature reading of the machine. Compare the temperature reading with its highest pressure reading, which you have seen.

To a more accurative calibration, you need to remove the cover, and install an extra high fine pressure gauge in its piping system. This way will give you a very good calibration.
